We make light you'll still care about in ten years.

The gap that started everything.

Most lamps in India fall into two categories: cheap and forgettable, or imported and unaffordable. There's almost nothing in between, nothing with real design thinking behind it, made here, at a price that doesn't require you to justify it to yourself.

Variant began with that frustration. We wanted objects that felt like they were made for the space they'd live in, not mass-produced in Shenzhen or overpriced in a South Delhi showroom.

Printed to order. Finished by hand.

We use 3D printing not because it's novel; we use it because it lets us make things that couldn't exist any other way. The geometries, the light diffusion, the surface texture. Each shade is printed from PLA filament, then sanded and finished by hand in our Nagpur studio.

We don't keep inventory. Every piece is made after you order it. That's not a constraint — it's the point. No overstock. No warehouses. No compromises on finish because something needs to ship fast.

When you turn it on for the first time and see the light do something unexpected — that moment is what we're making.

Designed for considered spaces.

Every form we make goes through the same test: does it earn its place? Is it adding something to the room, or just filling a shelf?

We think about proportion, warmth, and the way the light changes a corner. We think about the kind of person who notices those things, who buys something because it's right, not because it's cheap or because it was trending on Instagram. We're making objects for them.

Variant is a small studio. We like it that way. Small means every piece gets attention. Small means we can make something genuinely unusual and not have to justify it to a sales team.

What 3D printing actually means for light.

The way light behaves through a 3D printed surface is unlike any other material. The layer lines diffuse the glow differently, softer in some areas and more defined in others. The wall thickness controls how warm or cool the light reads in the room. These are variables we design around.

No two prints are identical. The variation is built into the process. An object with actual character.

Working with architects and interior designers.

If you're specifying lighting for a residential or hospitality project, we'd like to talk. We can work at custom finishes, modified dimensions, or small-batch orders for a specific project. We keep timelines honest and communication direct.

We're not a brand trying to do everything for everyone. But if a considered home is what you're designing, we think Variant fits.
